Lynch Consultants is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to support the Department of the Air Force (DAF) in the National Capital Region on a Financial Improvement and Audit Remediation (FIAR) effort focused on financial data automation, advanced analytics, and AI-enabled mission support. 
 
This position will play a senior role in building and operationalizing an integrated financial automation capability that connects Financial Management (FM) data sources, automates key workflows, and enables repeatable analytics and AI-enabled use cases. The objective of this effort is to reduce redundant manual analysis, improve data quality and accessibility, generate efficiencies and cost savings, and accelerate audit-ready timelines across the Air Force financial management environment. 
 
The Senior Data Analyst will apply advanced technical expertise to deliver complex data work products, support solution development, and provide direction to project teams. This individual will be expected to interact directly with Government stakeholders, help shape analytic approaches, and guide the design and execution of data-driven solutions that support Air Force financial modernization priorities.

Salary: $90,000/yr - $120,000/yr commensurate with experience.  

Work Location and Schedule:

  • Hybrid (National Capital Region preferred) and required to support onsite at Camp Springs, MD / Joint Base Andrews at least 3-days per week.  

Required Qualifications – Must Have:
 

  • MUST have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. 

  • MUST have 8+ years of relevant experience in data analytics, database support, reporting, automation, or related technical/business solution delivery, including experience supporting Federal or state agencies or large, complex organizations. 

  • MUST have an active Secret Clearance or Interim Secret Clearance, with the ability to maintain eligibility. 

  • MUST have experience with data analysis/programming tools such as Python, PySpark, SQL, R, Scala, Visual Basic, or similar technologies used to parse, cleanse, manipulate, analyze, and visualize large datasets. 

  • MUST have experience developing and maintaining data products such as databases, dashboards, visualizations, analytic reports, and data cleansing scripts/processes. 

  • MUST have experience providing direction on data deliverables or work products, interacting directly with Government stakeholders, and supporting client-facing project execution. 

  • MUST have familiarity with modern data and automation environments, including tools such as Databricks, Palantir, Microsoft Power Platform, or similar platforms
  • MUST have exposure to OCR, AI/ML concepts, Generative AI, Agentic AI, or use of large language models (LLMs) in an operational or business environment. 
  • MUST have strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to brief stakeholders, lead discussions, and operate with limited oversight on assigned workstreams 

Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, Department of the Air Force, or Federal financial management clients.  

  • Familiarity with the Operational Air Force Financial Data Structure.  

  • Familiarity with the Operational Air Force Data Dictionary.  

  • Experience supporting FIAR, audit readiness, internal controls, or financial statement audit response efforts.  

  • Experience with MS Power Application Automation.  

  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar visualization platforms.  

  • Familiarity with cloud-enabled analytics, workflow automation, and enterprise data environments supporting financial operations.  

  • Experience working across both functional and technical teams to operationalize analytic and automation capabilities.  

Skills & Duties:

  • Leading the development of complex data deliverables, analytic work products, dashboards, reports, and visualizations in support of DAF FIAR and FM transformation objectives. 

  • Providing direction to project teams on data analysis methods, technical approaches, and work product development. 

  • Supporting the integration, transformation, validation, and analysis of financial and operational data from multiple Air Force data sources. 

  • Designing and implementing repeatable data cleansing, reconciliation, and automation processes to improve efficiency and auditability. 

  • Supporting the development of advanced automation and analytics use cases that streamline FM workflows and reduce redundant manual effort. 

  • Applying OCR and related technologies to extract, structure, and operationalize information from non-standard or document-based inputs. 

  • Supporting the practical use of AI/ML capabilities, including Generative AI and large language models, within operational and business-focused environments. 

  • Interacting directly with Government personnel to present findings, discuss data issues, refine requirements, and support implementation decisions. 

  • Reviewing and quality-checking analytic outputs to ensure accuracy, traceability, and alignment with client requirements. 

  • Mentoring or overseeing junior analysts and contributing to coordinated team execution across technical workstreams.
